The Deleuze Seminars is a collection of audio recordings, transcriptions, and English translations of, and supplemental materials from, the lectures French philosopher Gilles Deleuze gave during his career at the University of Paris 8.

“Anti-Oedipus and Other Reflections” was a two lecture seminar given in late May and early June of 1980. Here, Deleuze reflects on his well-known book, Anti-Oedipus: Capitalism and Schizophrenia (co-authored with Félix Guattari, 1972; English translation 1977), and other concepts he had been developing up to and at that time.

In the 03 June 1980 lecture, topics of discussion include: lines of flight; geoanalysis and psychoanalysis; the danger of lines of flight and life; linguistics; the French writer, philosopher and literary theorist Maurice Blanchot; the German-language writer Franz Kafka; the distance between the "I" (Je) and the "he" (il); schools of thought on the self (le Moi); language and the impersonal "he"; the pure singularity; French psychologist, philosopher and doctor Pierre Janet, his From Anguish to Ecstasy (De l'Angoisse à l'extase) and hysteria; French linguist and semiotician Émile Benveniste and the personal pronoun; German philosopher G.W.F. Hegel, The Phenomenology of Spirit, dialectics, and the concept of Hic et Nunc (here and now); the linguistic concept 'shifter' (embrayeur); German philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz and the pure being of collection; individuation, person and event; English thought; a moral of individuation, with the example of the tribe; French poet Joë Bousquet and the idea "my injury preexisted me" (ma blessure me préexistait); the effectuation of the event; dignity in the face of the event; and ethics.

This dataset includes: two mp3 recordings of the lecture (total time, 1:57:37), an aggregate version of the audio recordings into a single mp3, and the complete French transcription of the recorded lecture in both pdf (25 pp) and plain text.

Note: The French transcription for the part 2 audio file is incomplete. The last (approx.) 16 minutes has not been transcribed. The transcription ends at the (approx.) 39:21 mark of the part 2 audio file, the (approx.) 1:41:30 mark of the complete audio file.
