Description
These data were obtained from a software-defined radio receiver (SDR) and Raspberry Pi single-board computer running a modified version of dump1090 software using a 1090 MHz fixed antenna atop the terminal building at the Lafayette, Indiana, airport (KLAF). The logging device recorded received Mode S and Mode C transponder data over a period of 31 days in the accompanying 31 .csv files between December 1 and December 31, 2016.
The antenna was located at approximately:
40°24'57.8"N
86°55'51.9"W
The following fields are contained in each row of the file:
- tstamp: Date and time recorded to the nearest minute
- t.hexid: ICAO 24 bit address
- m.ident: Aircraft tail number
- alt: pressure altitude of aircraft
- t.lat: Latitude of aircraft expressed in decimal degrees
- t.long: Longitude of aircraft expressed in decimal degrees
- sig1…sig8: The last 8 reported signal strengths
- Signal.Avg: The average of sig1..sig8
- ActDist: Computed distance in miles between ground received and aircraft using aircraft reported position
