Description
This animation illustrates the use of the Link Pivot algorithm for optimizing offsets on a signalized arterial. The algorithm works by stepping through possible offsets at each intersection while trying to find the minimum delay or maximum arrivals on green. This effectively “pivots” across the possible configurations on the approaches on the next link. The offset achieving the optimal value is retained. The link flows previously optimized in the steps are maintained by applying the same adjustment on the current step to all prior intersections.
