Why would I want to publish data?

Data publishing is one of the key services provided to Purdue researchers. Journal publications are increasingly requiring researchers to back their claims by providing data as an integral part of their papers or as supplemental material published jointly with the papers. Not all publishers, however, provide space for the data, PURR make this possible for Purdue community.

Publishing data means making data available to others in order to support one's claim in a published article or to share data that already served their purpose and make them available to others to advance or supplement their research inquiry. As the data are published, they will be shared, and eventually re-used that means the data will be cited and become research output in its own right that researchers can use in their CVs and biographical sketches.
