Is there a way for my publication data to be assigned a DOI while being under embargo (i.e. not public until the manuscript has been published)?

Yes. Go through the process of publishing your data, and after you click the green "Review and Submit to be Published" button, you will be able to set a Publication Date that is up to 10 years in the future. This is effectively an embargo.

However, once a dataset is published even if it is under an embargo, the publication (both the content and the description) cannot be changed. The only way modify a publication is to create a new version, which gets a new DOI.

If you decide to change the release date after the resource is published, open a ticket and the PURR administrator will change the release date or lift the embargo immediately.
